Speaking without any proof (seeing as how I have the air system), I'd say anything would be an improvement over the stock air ride system. I'm guessing Mr. Brown would be the man to ask. He has nearly every suspension upgrade.

Less things to go wrong would be my first thought.
That is if you got rid of the air ride stuff.

As Tom said talk to Mr Brown he can set you straight.

Did I hear my name?!

Going with the good Dr's last suggestion, I would use Race Tech single-rate springs, to replace the stock ones. That has two benefits: the springs can be bought to match your weight, so you have tailored suspension; you get improved travel due to getting rid of the progressive rate stock springs. Using such springs will eliminate the need for air in a stroke!

As a bonus you could consider adding a set of Ricor Intiminators to improve damping. You can either use them as supplied, or consider modifying them in line with fabrik8r's magic formula, which is said to yet further improve their action. In all, the above provides a budget upgrade of your forks and will allow you to fit whatever bars and grips take your fancy.

I have actually done those mods to my own bike, however I will save you the details of an even bigger forks upgrade I'm now involved with - until a little later!

Nah, hoping!
Financially, my trees will have to wait because of the sidecar, however it looks like they will be even more beneficial for the hack.
