Been out and about quite a bit over the last few days. Probably a couple of hundred miles worth of knocking around on those "roads covered with melting snow full of salt, grit and grime with the occasional icy spot".
Heh.
If I gave a **** about having a dirty bike, I wouldn't have a bike.
Did decide to clean up the motor a bit on Sunday. I haven't actually washed this thing since I got it, so that was a first. Cranked it up on the jack, went to work with a bottle of the green stuff, and more or less got there. Not sure where the oil is coming from, but after about 6000 miles or so, my Evo's motor is pretty grungy. I wonder how much the seller did to clean it up.
Buddy calls. His Road King has a dead battery. He's one of those guys (we all know guys like that, right?) who's a great guy but couldn't turn a wrench to save his life. I tossed some tools into a duffle, strapped it on the back, rode over. Pulled his battery, sent him off to get a new one, got the RK buttoned up, and off we went.
Rides into work the last couple of mornings are pretty frosty, but its a small price to pay for the glorious ride home.
The FXR feels way more planted than before, with the new suspension I put on over the winter. Mucho bettero. (Just showing off my Espanol skills there). Front brake is, I suppose, as good as its going to get. I rebuilt it, and it's way better, but its still pretty lame compared to others. No worries.
Lots of fun gravel on the roads to slide around on. Having a good time getting the FXR sideways where I can. Damn that bike handles.
The cheapo Shinko tires I put on seem good enough.
All said, it was a good winter and looks to be a better spring. Jesus, that sounds like a Hallmark card.

Dang man, are you trying to kill yourself?

Darn, thought I was the official dick around here. I go away a few days and get demoted... Well the weather has been fairly good but Iv been too busy to ride. Put on my new VH straight shots Sunday and rode in 70* tee shirt weather. Havnt cranked Smoky in 4 weeks and guess what.. Barley touched the button and cranked up on 1/2 a spin. Looks might new with the pipes.
You know it was a cold winter when it gets up to 25 degrees and you're walking around outside in a t-shirt. This winter blew big time!! Around here in Ohio there's still the salt and other crap residue on the roads. I'll roll soon after we get a little rain to clean things up.
