Is it possible to replace the oil seal without pulling the cam cover

 

installing it with out the special tool is the thing not getting it out - it bends and pulls the rubber seal center away from the cams metal nose

 

But can it replaced without pulling the cam cover?

 

the tool allows it with no damage what so ever - screw drivers make marks

the tool allows sheet metal screws to inter the seal at ether side and then you pull it through the tool

have replaced many with damage to the seal hole suggesting it was replaced with another methiod other then the tool

 

Yes. Just be careful. It can be done.

A drill and sheetmetal screw to get it out, make a driver out of pvc pipe to install.
