It all comes down to, or should come down to, trust. If you trust the people you ride with then there shouldn't be any "rider error" accidents, no matter how many people there are; although I do agree that more there are the higher the risk.

If you don't trust or know the people who ride with you (ie large groups pf strangers) then you take your life in your own hands so to speak; that is one reason I prefer to ride alone or only with people I know or am introduced to through someone I know and who knows me; hence, I 99.9% of the time ride alone.

Ridden alone, ridden with a couple close brothers, ridden with a too big group, ridden with clubs. I like 'em all except the "too big group", aka strangers! Nothing like doing a long solo, heading wherever your front wheel happens to be pointing. But then, nothing like running with a couple close brothers. Oh, and riding with the MC is great, too. I don't know - guess I like to ride...

When with a group there are always those frustrating moments when everyone seems to have a different agenda. Almost never bothers me 'cause I can pretty much slip my mind/thoughts into neutral until it comes back together.

Huh, just got to remembering a couple year stint as the RC for the local CMA chapter. That was a challenge - headed up rides nearly every week, and the riders might have 4 weeks through 40 years experience. Good way to develop patience, LOL!

BuzzCap,

Yep, there are some real nice rides up this way, especially the NE of NY that area is beautiful.

Spent a few years "driving" back and forth to Lake George so know it pretty well. Wouldn't mind doing that trip on the bike and getting up to Lake Placid. Think the Lake your talking is called Mirror Lake or something like that!

Can't remember how long the drive was to LG some where around 4 1/2 hours for me so that'd be probably 6 hours on the bike - for me at least. I hate the 4 lanes and highway speeds with "I gotta be there by yesterday" drivers.

Definitely another ride to add to the Ride Bucket List!

I reckon it would be too. I don't mind riding with new riders, they tend to bring me back to reality a little and remind me that we all had to start some where. I just give them a LOT of room when ever I have ridden with them

I haven't done a lot of riding with "new riders" but the very times I have it has been fun and kinda brings me back to the reality that we all had to learn and start some where. The one thing I am pretty sure of is that a new rider isn't going to do anything intentionally stupid by trying to show off or such; by the same token, I do give them a lot more room than a more experienced rider

EXACTLY right!!!! South end of Mirror Lake is a Hampton Inn with a GORGEOUS view from their plate glass windows that are huge and wrap around. Not of lake but their large backyard if I recall right.

Unlimited beer (good beer too) free for several hours. Knock a couple of t hose off and then off to dinner. See next paragraph.

Next door is the Lake Placid Pub Brewery with an open balcony viewing of the Lake. Really nice and very gd fd.

As we talk about it and I will be there in early July, I am thinking abt coming back and checking out LG only 1.5 hrs south.

You wet my appetite.

Tony I ride with the wife on hers or tend to do long rides alone. Once in a while I'll join in on a fallen riders memorial run and will ride out back.

Seems as though most of us tend to ride alone, with some exceptions, for all very similar reasons.

Despite riding by myself though, I don't think I have ever really felt alone. Always passing (different directions where I am concerned) other riders who wave and generally, always meet up with other riders when ever I stop. Can't count the number of times I've been stopped on the side of the road for a break or a cigarette and another rider has stopped and asked if all was well.

With that sort of camaraderie, amongst riders, it's kind of hard to feel alone.

Buzz,

Gave me something to think about too! To be honest, being in my own back yard I tend to forget about getting up that way, sort of adopt the attitude that I can do that anytime. I'm going to have to consider that ride for July/August I think.

Lake George is nice, not too much there as such but a great place to relax and unwind. If you want a good beer and top food, stop into Saratoga Springs and a pub/inn there called the "Old Bryan Inn" it is great and the only place I ate whenever I stayed in SP.

Buzz,

Feel free to mention my name and put anything you want on my tab. Haven't been up that way for a couple of years so I doubt they'd remember me OR, if they do, they might kick you out lol

The Old Bryan has a club too - a drinkers club where you can buy Beer Steins with your name etc on it and they keep it for you for when you drop in for a "quiet, social" drink. when you go in to the bar you'll see them on racks behind and hanging from racks - looks pretty neat in an old worldly feel kinda place. Oh, and seeing as how your putting everything on my tab, can you get me one too

Should mention that the "Old Bryan" is right in the middle of a bunch of hotels as well, if you were wanting to stay there. Any time I stay up there I stay at the Marriott that is within walking/staggering distance just up the road. Not too expensive and they have a bar as well. If you didn't like that there is always the Hilton almost next door to the pub and another high class place just up the road as well - not my places of choice but hey, I'm a tight ***

Wombat, FOUND IT!! https://www.oldebryaninn.com/ <-- I called them and it seems they have your PIX on the wall. You are "wanted".

The Hilton is an HGI (Hilton Garden Inn) my favorite place to stay and it is 1.5 miles from the pub.

It is also only like 50 miles north of I-87 & I-90 so I'll likely hit it on the way back from Boston or on my going back up to Boston in late July or early Aug.

worse comes to worse, I can easily hit it on my next trip around the USA in 2016.

NICE find my friend, thank you!!
