ERT Products also has a stainless steel hex head cap to replace the existing plugs. http://www.ertproducts.com/PRO-GAUGE.html There was one for the tappet screen on mine when I bought it. Makes it easy to check the tappet screen and no special tool to loose.

That could be it. My local dealer sells the same filters for both, twin cam and EVO. what is a good aftermarket filter?

I use genuine Toyota filters. The one that is used on a 22R motor (like a 1986 4 cylinder Truck) is the exact same spec as a HD filter. They are also very reasonable at the Toyota dealer, and even black in color.

WIX filters are also very good. The WIX filter for that same Toyota Truck or I think they have one cross referenced for our bikes. NAPA gold filters are made by WIX.
