Here is what I got anyway:

Wish they had photo's so you could see what the screens look like with the various tints etc.
I have a tinted compact I could take a picture for you. I'll see if I have one.

Did you enter HDForum in the discount box to get the 10% off? If not I'd call them, they have good customer support.

Trim a motorcycle windshield. - YouTube
I cut down a 23'" windshield to a 18" height on a pre-owned FLSTC, and it came out at least as good as brandy new. Use the blue masking tape generously, a GOOD quality jig/scroll saw with a 15/20 tooth blade, and take your sweet time making the cut-heat is your enemy here. Make sure the windshield is well fixed-I left mine on the bike. Use 220/400/600/1200 grit wetsand on the rough edges, and you can use a torch on the cut edge (only works with lexan/polycarbonate) if you like.

Nice thing is that even if you totally screw up, it's only a windshield and not a huge loss.

Thanks guys, a jig saw qith a 20 TPI blade and lots of blue painters tape is what I used and it did come out looking good - to me anyway

Joe,

If you have a picture, that'd be great to see. I am guessing the one in the picture on the site is the dark grey so I think the light grey should do fine.

I didn't know what to put in the "coupon box" so I just added a note letting them know I was a member here and this is where I got their name from. If they take that then great, if not - no biggy really.

Just hope they ship it quick now

Damn it, just realised - I'm probably going to have to cut the headlight area out on that one too

PS: You guys are costing me money ... now I'm back to peanut butter sandwiches for a week
19.5"????
You must be one tall SOB!!!!!

The top of the shield should come no higher than just below your upper lip.
Especially with a recurve.

Well, some people like to look through them instead of over them. But yeah... not a good idea with a recurve. Makes Kias look like Suburbans.

Looking through gets kinda hard in the rain and if you hit a bunch of bugs.
You can always see over.

Well, my current windscreen is 21" and the top of it is just at eye level, maybe a little higher. So, I figured loosing an 1 1/2" would put it just about right. With that being said, I didn't take into account the re-curve...... I am guessing that it will come to about my nose.

I went for the lower screen because I don't like looking through them either. In hindsight, I probably should have gone for the next lower one down. Might not be too late to change it though.

Actually, the 19.5" is the lowest one they have for the bike according to the options for height anyway.

This thread's timing couldn't have been better for me! I'm headed on a 2300 mile adventure next week and rather than rush to purchase an aftermarket shield, I'm cutting 1.5" off the stock now. Save's me up to $230 if I were to have haphazardly bought an aftermarket one without due diligence.

By the way.. I tried to heat up and bend the top 2" or so of the windshield I had picked up for $20. Let's just say it looks frosted on the outer 2" perimeter of it now. I think I will cut it off and try a fairly short windshield and see how that works.
