Hey HD Gurus, my father has an old 89 Softail that's been sitting in the garage for years. It only has 4100 miles on it and he bought the bike brand new.
For the HD experts out there, is there any well known issues with the 89 Softail that I should investigate? The tires, fluids, and hoses will be inspected and replaced but didn't know if there were any other issues worth looking into.

None. Don't buy into the must haves about tapered shafts and other bs.Change fluids, check tires, overhaul brakes, stop worrying and ride the snot outta the old gal.
You have most things covered, as far as I can see. Clean out the gas tank, tap and filter. Issues?! Good grief - fire it up! If it runs well there will be plenty of time to 'worry' about other stuff.

Welcome ., with only 4100 miles on it you have an essentially new bike there.
My added advise ... if you havent fired it up already , pour some oil into the plug holes and roll it over a few times to lube up those dry cyl. walls and rings.
I have an 89 fxstc too. Just a few more miles on it. There were some minor recalls, but nothing note worthy. I also just swapped the butterfly for a CV carb.
