How many quarts does the crankcase hold and the oil bag ?

Mine is the chrome wrap around bag

 

I don't recall you saying what your bike is or year, mid90's softail?
Crankcase should be close to1/2 quart which stays there when you change the oil. Not sure about the bag,you should purchase a manual for the bike. If it says 4 quart capacity,then you will add three(approx) and new filter.

It's a 94' Evo 1340 the rest is all chopped. Santee down and dirty frame, random Harley and custom parts for the rest.

 

My ironhead runs pretty hot. I dealt with blue pipes for ages. Right now I'm running drag pipes, no mufflers, no heat shields. I got the blue off my pipes with blue job. It made them look pretty good.

To help eliminate the blue color from returning, I sealed my exhaust where the pipe connects to the cylinders with high temp silicon sealant. It seems to have helped. I've got gold around the exhaust close to the heads now. It also runs a little better. I had a dead spot when I accelerated which I attributed to a lean condition through the exhaust.

If anyone seals their pipes up with the sealant, be careful not to let any get too close to the exhaust outlet or it could wind up inside the cylinders.

My old ironhead did the same. The straight pipes were blue just like on my big bike. I'll look into that silicone though I should probably do that anyway

 

You Know, I've been hearing a lot about Blueing pipes and White spark plugs the last couple of months and One forum member actually called it the new rich AFR. Well I am little concerned and confused. I've been in the automotive and motorcycle industry as a mechanic for most of my life and am now well into my 50's but i can't understand how some say it's normal (blue pipes and white plugs) those 2 indicators suggest a hotter running motor and being air cooled raises the temps even more... (A little blueing is normal for chrome but I've seen pipes blue to the baffles that is not normal) My pipes DON'T blue and my plugs are not white, more like tan (actually an amber-reddish color because I do run an octane additive). There's no popping out the pipes or coughing out the carb. The response from twisting the throttle is uninterrupted and very smooth.... Where do all of you that say this is normal, get your knowledge from. There are a lot of riders out there that do not understand the workings of a naturally aspirated combustion engine but do take your knowledge seriously. Lets not confuse them... I guess I am asking how this can be accepted as normal..

 

I'm accepting it as the pipes get really hot and naturally turn blue.
My plugs are the amber color you speak of they're not white.
My ironhead had blue'd pipes as well with the same good looking amber plugs ran great.

The blueing is up close to the heads not more then 5" or so.
