Default 1993 FXSTC Advice

You guys were very helpful before so I am returning. I ran into a '93 softail custom with electronic ignition, lowered with only 7,000 miles for $7,500. It fits me well and I like it.

If, after your advice I were to get it, the forward controls are extended - I would need regular ones put back on. The kickstand needs an extension - I'm sure there are places I can find one. I'd also have to take the seat to an upholsterer and have it move me up.

So, is this too much to pay, should I negotiate. According to some value books I've seen, its close to what one would expect to pay for a pretty mint condition older bike.

My concerns are, will HD dealerships still work on a bike this old if I were a long way from home (my local dealership will)? Also, anything to watch out for with a bike this old? Coming from the late '60s and 70s - I just love the looks of the older softails.

Here are pics, your advice is appreciated.

You should always negotiate.

I doubt you will get many dealerships to touch it but just about any indy will.

I will definitely try and negotiate. There are a couple of good indies around here. Just debating the pros and cons.

Nice bike, easy to work on. There's no reason why you can't work on it yourself or a dealer wouldn't work on it if your out of town. Unless they are incompetent.

To be honest, as I believe this is a buyer's market, I'm thinking that is a $5000 bike. Tell me I'm wrong but asking price is not sales price. Right?

What you have to do to make it fit you is your problem and shouldn't/won't effect the dealers selling price.
You have to decide if it's worth it to YOU.

The asking price is $7,000 but tax raises it. I will see about lowering the price. The NADA guide I think was $6,500 so, its not too far off.
Any pros or cons about this year model?

The price of anything is what you are buying it for.
I just paid the taxes on a '94 FXSTC and for tax purposes that is a $4k bike.

I think that is too much money for that bike. I think anything over $5500 would be a bad deal for you. New forwards are about $250. Any indy or dealer could work on that bike so that is not an issue.

I agree with the fellas. It looks nice and clean. I'd go in and say lets get this done today. 5k
If they are stern on 7 And you really like it I would negotiate new forwards installed in the deal and maybe some other Things you like to set it up for that price
