The MoCo offered an accessory reverse for the sidecars. Basically a car battery that mounted in the rear of the hack, automotive starter and flywheel that bolted to the sidecar wheel.
Not saying it isn't nice to have a reverse in a hack, but they're easier to roll backwards than a heavy weight on two wheels. Makes a big difference when the bike just sits upright by itself, put all your energy into just pushing it. As far as reverse on a two wheeler, ever had to push one uphill a bit? Even my Sportsters are a bear to push up a slight incline. Or maybe I'm just getting old...

I don't think I would have gone that route, even if I'd known about it. Lots of extra weight.
