Default Speedometer

The trip meter on my 89 Softail Custom records miles but I cant get it to reset. Has anyone run into this problem? Is there any "fix" or do I just have to replace the speedo?

JP says this http://www.jpcycles.com/product/5600148 will work with my bike. Any preferences or opinions?

More than likely the gears that engage the trip meter are stripped or out of place. There are speedo repair places but you might as well find another.

My odometer just quit counting miles at somewhere between 103,000 and 104,000.

Now's your chance to be a little bold and get a custom speedometer. Lots of choices available for your year. I went with the "62-'67 style.

Like this one- http://www.jpcycles.com/product/5600147, but mine was sold through H-D.

Yeah, replace or repair. I need to send the Sportster's speedo off too. The trip odometer no longer works. Everything else is fine. It will reset if you spin the reset ****, but won't move from there.

Where do you send it to get it repaired?

I have no personal experience with them, but my factoid database says:
http://www.scottspeedometer.com/ repairs HD speedos.

However, any speedo repair place should be able to do it. It is a plain mechanical unit.
