the 12v lighter outlet on my 89 tourglide is not working...I checked for a fuse box and came up with nothing! any reason why it would not be working? and how to u trouble shoot it?
Unplug it and check for 12v. If you get -12 you have the leads backwards.
If you get 12v then you know the lighter is gone. Buy a new one. I took my working one out to put in the USB outlet there on my new radio. It fit like a glove as it was made for that.
They must be available at the Help! area of your local Autozone.

Yep, your local parts store has 'em. Buy the whole unit (they're cheap) and try just the lighter. Sometimes that is what has burned out, and it will save you from going into the fairing.
It def needs to come out. I tried a phone charger and nothing worked. Anyone know how to get it out?
No FSM?
If the FLT is anything like the FLTR, you will have screws around the outside of the inner fairing and bolts at the frame mounts. Lay a towel on your front fender and pull the outer fairing away slowly. Reach in when you can and disconnect the headlight. You will be able to get at the lighter, as well as electrical connections you can inspect.
