My '89 Tour Glide had just over 120,000 miles on it when I got it. Previous owner pulled a trailer, had new transmission gears put in right around 100,000 miles, and beefed up the top end. Next trip took out the bottom (not unusual for a top end only on some EVO years, even without pulling a trailer). Then he opted for a 96" S&S, which has about 20,000 on it now. The bike ran strong, but I decided to fix a few things (like rattles all over it, worn bushings, clunking forks...) and that turned into a frame up refurb, still in progress. Figure I'll put about 3 grand into it, should be way better than new. And no more trailer hitch - didn't figure on welding broken brackets when I got it, that back end isn't built for that; no wonder it rattled...
There was a guy, I swear I wish I could remember his name, that was famous around here. He had a 1986 FLH__ that HD gave him a new bike for that had something like, 426,000 miles on it and the motor had never been open except a cam bearing at like 80,000+ miles. That seems hard to believe but, there's a web page floating around out there that tells the whole story. The bike's name was Charlie.
I might also note that he only used RevTech oils and fluids in it.
Got just south of 60k on the Dyna. It is starting to sound a bit noisey and parts are starting to fall off so rebuild time is a coming up. I don't coddle.
