Default Highest miles

Just curious, who here has the highest mile EVO? I know I don't. I'm almost exactly at 100,000. Also, what major repairs to get there?

The only 100,000 mile Evo's I have seen [don't own one] were almost totally stock, and were baggers, but, not heavily loaded and certainly didn't ever have a Trailer hitch!!

Watch to see the 100,000 milers that only had new, lifters/rings/cams/headwork...etc.... Big deal!!!

True 100,000 milers are fairly rare I think.
But, Not unheard of.

I know a guy in Mississippi who is on his third reman motor in his 87 bagger. No clue on miles on it, but it is over 200k. Just not stock any longer.

I turned 200,000 miles on the Heritage Softail in my avatar on the 6th of October of this year. I have 109,000 on the remanufactured motor. The first motor was rebuilt after a tappet roller failure. The heads have not been off this motor yet, though I have changed the tappets every 40,000 miles. Aside from a Torrington cam bearing and adjustable push rods, the motor is stock internally.

I'm still running the original clutch pack and the transmission has never been apart. I'm on the 27th rear tire.

I love it! I'm at 40,000 on my factory reman engine. I guess I need to replace those tappets?

From what I've gathered over the years, the rollers (and needle bearings) are the one weakness in the motor. After my '94 was built, the MoCo issued a "B" revision for the tappets which eliminated the inner race and enlarged the axle. These are supposed to last longer.

I'm a bit paranoid, as I had a tappet roller fail once, so maybe I'm a bit cautious, but, it's my bike.

I have no idea how long a well maintained Evo engine will last. At 109,000 miles, mine uses a half pint of oil, give or take, in 2500 miles, has good compression, and, according to oil analysis from Blackstone Labs, is showing almost no wear metals in the oil.

I have 172000km in the odometer (=107500 miles). Have had the springer from new and only thing what have failed was stator. I changed the cam (EV27), cam bearing and the tappets last winter when I repainted the engine and the mileage at that point was around 105000. Everything inside the motor looked good and I did not see any problem with the original cam or tappets. I have changed the motor oil every 3100 miles.
These are bulletproofed engines!

I only have 50,000 on my 99 Softail Custom, so guess I have a ways to go. I did change out the cam brearing. I have replaced one regulator, and stator, but that is about it other than the ususal stuff like plugs and tires.

Well, the EG that I got a couple of months ago just clicked over 15k, so I guess I'm out.

I'm at about 105k. Bought it with 65k on it, and found receipts on a top end done at about 30k, but it seems to have been performance oriented rather than forced. I'm doing the top end again as we speak. She's far from a stocker, and I'm going back with comparable performance parts, as it seems to have done well.
