Hello Evoland. My 1997 flht with stock CV carb and thunderjet kits keeps loosing idle speed. I have adjusted the hot idle back to 1k twice now and at a warm idle speed of about 600 rpms. I have noticed also that the enrichner must me left on much longer than it used to. Any thoughts?
Might just be the excuse I need to pony up for the Super E.....
Do you have a VOES? If you have a VOES hooked up I'd replace it or test it with an ohm meter. They can go bad and intermittently fail. put a meter on it and apply vacuum to it repeatedly and see if it zeros out each time.
Mark the top of the idle screw with a sharpie to make sure it is not backing out on its own. I also agree that it could be the VOES. As a test, you could unplug the voes, set your idle, and see if it stays at 1000 rpm.
How many miles on it...?
I don't know about EVO's but, My Shovelhead does this ...worse and worse as It gets Older higher mileage...I know that older high wear engines take a Richer Mix to run properly also...I simply put an extended Idle adjustment screw on it, and deal with it...
No...I don't have an intake leak either!!!!
If it is High Mileage I can tell you that I removed the Super E and Put the CV on...Makes it better by quite a Bit...in the Idle regard..
But, Maybe ya need an excuse to spend $$ on that E!!!
I like the idea of marking the idle screw...I went one farther and used one of those Heat sensor gun things!! If the temperature of the engine is down...so is the Idle...If the temp reaches it's normal high...Idle is Normal also....
Mine is anyway.
