Back again with a new issue.... Now I seem to have an issue with the throttle cable sticking. When I turn the throttle slightly it seems to want to stay in that position until it's pulled back. No issues with it returning if it's pulled far forward like if going at a high speeds. If your trying for low speeds like pulling in the driveway or coming to a stop sign it wants to remain in position till pulled back. It's like any small turns of the throttle and no return to normal position. Large one does cause a return. I'm just guessing this may mean it need adjustment or replacement, correct?
Have you installed new grips possibly? I only ask because when I did on mine I had to get a hone on them to relieve them a little bit it was tight on the new bars creating the same situation. And when I removed the stock grips there was a thin layer of lube on the bars as well from a recent trip to the dealer for service. I personnaly did not add lube to the new bars as I feel that would only attract dust and debri. If the grips have enough clearance there should not be an issue. Maybe you have some old dried up grease under grip that just needs to be cleaned? Just another thought, easy enough to check.
I would start by disconnecting the cables from the grip and try the grip on its own to see if it spins freely on the handlebars. Like mentioned earlier you should lube the cables if you havent already. And of course adjustment could just be off.....
I would definetly start with lubing the cables first. HD offers a great cable lubricate. I believe it's a synthetic based. Just made for cables both clutch and throttle. No mess and the stuff in a small amount has an amazing creep effect.
