I believe rings not seating or wearing out slower/faster has more to do with wall to piston tolerances, and ring/piston quality than anything. Now heat cycling having something to do with bedding in gaskets? Very possible. Things do expand and swell with heat... Think of how much heat can affect POI on a skinny rifle barrel.
Lots of stuff out there on the net, too much info at times. All we can do is educate ourselves best we can and weed through all the crap but in the end its whatever gives you piece of mind, to each there own.
