Well, this is a module to run on that S&S single throttle body, that was (supposedly) made by Delphi to be a direct bolt on replacement of stock MM. Everything is just a plug in and bolt on - cables, harness, cruise.
What would make it a crappy thing - the ECU itself? It is supposedly fully programmable, every single parameter... The big wrench says he's been doing it on his computer with dyno.
Wouldn't then the crappinnes (or not) boil down to the quality of programming and the design of the throttle body?
I'm interested in learning how your bike works out with that system. I have looked at the S&S ECM replacement for my '96 EFI Road King. It is suppose to be tunable without a lot of expensive downloads.
As a long-term S&S customer and happy chappy I'm expecting the S&S to win this p*ssing match! Look forward to the final outcome.
No pissing match. SS is a great company. There VFI module for MMEFI is a piece of trash and was 689. Bucks to boot..Sounds like they came out with a new system. I am all for EFI if it's running all the censors . EFI is all we run on all the hot rods we build unless customer wants carb. Interested. Have to go look. How many MM is the throttle body ? What o2s they use?
Well, according to the big wrench, the throttle body is the key here, not just the ECM.
Funny enough, he said, whereas I could get a so called "self adjusting kit" (basically O2s in the headers), I do not really need it, if I ain't gonna be changing pipes/cams etc. later on. He says we'll just tune it on the dyno for what it is now...
I kinda like this idea, because you keep the exact tuning without the system constantly trying to mess itself up
No 02s on and EFI? Lol. Get a better big wrench your getting sold a BS story. I have used the VFI SS MODULE. IF it was 100 bucks I might do it. But it was never even half as good as a 42 mukuni or CV. Just marginal better than the MMEFI and required constant screwing with.Trying to run a EVO off a factory head temp sensor ....pure joke.
Well, MM has no O2's to begin with.
This S&S EFI one has an "optional self adjusting kit", that consists of them very O2's. ($200 or so)
The big wrench says I may go for the kit, but do not have to, since he can tune it nicely if I'm not touching anything later on...
If possible:
What exactly have you experienced and addressed with the M & M system.
Was it the original fuel lines that required replacement. They go bad after about 10 years.
The original cam sensor that started to melt.
The engine head temp sensor that makes idle flip/flop and surge when it goes bad. They go bad about every 50K miles.
The idle that required adjustment...sometimes related to engine temp sensor.
The dirty contacts at ECM.
Or the small piece of tank liner that clogged the fuel suction one time.
Well, MM has no O2's to begin with.

BINGO. No 02s. One of the reasons both suck. It's your cash. Good luck u were warned Lol
I'm real interested in this conversion too. On my FI road king, the major problem has always been the head temp sensor. It eats them like candy. I would talk to S&S to see if they make a better head temp sensor than the stock MM that works with their module.
