I am having some intermittent issues with my ignition switch. Sometimes, I have to turn the key off, then back on to get ignition so, I need to replace it. This one is not original to my bike. Anyone recognize it? Its a 3-position switch. Im thinking it may be a Sportster switch ?
its a stock harley ignition switch FX or XL series 90s a guess the round key type - i have not see that type available aftermarket with the round key but the flat key switch is available in china throwaway only
I removed it and it is sealed so, I cant get any cleaner inside of it. It is a Harley part with a number 9806 or 9086 engraved on it. The 6 and 9 looks the same so, Im not sure about the part number.
You might want to look at 71428-90B. It was used on a 1991 Dyna Glide Sturgis. It looks to have the round key. I guess a dealer could order one with a key matched to your bike so that your fork lock and ignition use the same key (that's if you have a fork lock & from the picture of your bike I guess you don't have saddlebag locks). It also looks like some of the switches have 2 wires and some have 3 wires. Maybe Off/On/Acc for the 3 wire?? Google 71428-90 for choices. Good luck.
Thank you for that part number! I found some aftermarket switches that look the same and use barrel keys for around $20.00 but, I'd rather have a factory switch if I can.
