Read a post on another forum where I guy made his own on a lathe and pressed them into his existing 02 up bushings. Just can't see forking out $250 plus for the cce kit (which from what I understand is just the 02 up spacers with a 5/8 ID) if this will accomplish the same thing. I am missing something?
There are other sources of bushing kits, including True-Track and Motorcycle Metal, IIRC. I used a True-Track Trackula kit, to upgrade my handling. The bushings we need adapt the later swingarm to our smaller swingarm axle, later bikes having a larger diameter axle.
After reading my post I wan't very clear. What I am thinking of doing is ordering a 3/4 OD to 5/8 ID bushings. Hopefully they will be the right fit and I can press those into the exciting 02 and up factory bushings. That will allow me to use the factory spherical bearing set up for the 02 and later bikes with my stock 5/8 pivot shaft. I read a post on another forum where the OP made his own bushings and pressed them in. Just wondering if anyone have tried this using ones like in the links. Wondering if the fit would be ok. Cheap enough that I will probably order a set and see how they fit. Just though I would post to see if I was missing anything or see if anyone has already tried it. Have read you post on the swingarm upgrade several times GRBrown, very informative. Lots of great information on this forum and great mechanics as well. All input is much appreciated.
I made a set in the lath and it seemed like no problem. I have since gone to delran bushings that do about the same for my new swing arm mod. Never did ride it with the steel ones. Don't see why it wouldn't work. Much better than trying to ream case for larger shaft if you don't have the equipment .
Seems like a pretty reasonable idea to me. I have a lathe too, so I would consider making them myself as well, but if you can buy them already done, I'd go for it.
I just used a complete rear end of a 2007 bolted up no issues swing arm axle bushings and rear rim from a guy that did a wide tire kit on his bagger.

Well I don't have a lathe so I ordered some bushing that where supposed to be 3/4 od and 5/8 ID...They slid into the 3/4 2007 bushing but where a little to loose for my liking. I could feel slight movement with just a thumb and finger on each end trying to move it. Loctite for blushings may have solved it but the brand new 5/8 pivot shaft that I bought would not go through the bushings, very close but just a little to tight. Could probably order some different brands and find some that would work but I am running out of time. I need to get these part ready and do this swap soon so I can put some miles on before I head out west this summer. I figure it would cost a lot to have someone machine them for me so I am going to order the CCE kit. If I had a lathe or more time I would definitely go this route. There is a guy that has done this..Can't find his thread on this forum but it is posted on another forum as well. He did it in 2011 and is from Yorkshire uk. I am assuming that we can't post links to other forums or I would post it here.
