Default Edelbrock heads on an evo

I like my touring bike just fine but have been thinking about buying a softy for a hopper.

I found a 95 that has Edelbrock heads (that's about all I know about the engine at this point). When I mentioned the heads to a friend who is much more knowledgable than I about such things, his response was "bummer". I'm not familiar with them anyone got pros and cons on these?

With 15K on the clock, the price is pretty good on this bike at $5500.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Rectangular or square intakes will give you leaks is what I heard. I would stay with Stock heads and build them if I had my rathers. See if the intake manifold is squared going to the head.
Price of the bike is about normal but with heads that may be a problem ,No.

Thanks. Yeah I know little else about the bike at this point. Don't know if the heads are part of a performance kit or what. Found it on craigslist. But it is local so I may take a look at it tomorrow.

Still have my heart set on a evo heritage springer but thought this might be fun in the meantime

It's pretty sweet that he converted to a cast front wheel and dual discs. If the price is right if buy it. Bike looks rad and probably has some go fast parts besides the heads. Worst case scenario take the heads off and put some stock ones back on, sell the edlebrock heads for a pretty penny on the bay

I may be bias because years ago I had an Edelbrock carb I did not like so that was the end of the brand for me. If you ever need intake seals you will have to get them thru edelbrock. Bet the bike is built.

I have an '84 FXR that came to me with Edelbrock heads, runs like a scalded dog...I have a set of ported factory heads in my shop, in case I ever have problems with them, but they seem fine.

Edelbrock stopped making heads for Harleys when the economy fell on its *** in '08 and the "bummer" is that there are no "new" parts available for them anymore and there were never enough out there to support any aftermarket company making seals and stuff like that for them.

If I am correct the Edelbrock heads require proprietory JE pistons.
So if you get this bike and decide to change the heads, you will need pistons too.
Unless I am wrong.
Good looking bike!

We have enough experts around HDF who can sort out pistons, should the time come. I also had an Edelbrock carb, of which the least said the better (it couldn't feed my 89" tuned engine). However heads are heads and the company is still around.
