I will play with the handlebar position. Thanks for the tips. So far I find the riding position very comfortable.

I am also finding the handling characteristics better than expected. Bike was delivered with low tire pressure 22 front 26 rear. Increasing tire pressure to 36 front and 40 rear improved handling dramatically.

Have only ridden it around the neighborhood so far. 25 mph max. Hopefully I will get tags tomorrow. I am looking forward to getting it out on the road.

Planning to do as much of the maintenance myself as possible. But I am going to have a mechanic give it a once over first to make sure I am starting from a solid position.

Should be getting tags today. Looking forward to getting out of the neighborhood. Going to ride it a bit before making any significant changes. So far, I have removed all unnecessary add-ons.

The softail slim appeals to me. I am thinking of working towards that kind of set up.

Tires have a fair amount of tread left, but there is some cracking on the sidewalls. Wondering if I should put new tires on it.

Cracks are not good. Tires are cheaper than skin.

I'd change those tires out right away

Thanks for the push for new rubber. I will have my mechanic take a look at the tires. I am a big believer in good rubber. I put new tires on both my Versys and DRZ even though I had significant tread left.

Also hoping it will be easy to put it back to factory height. As it is I am nervous about leaning it over for fear of scraping. I think I have more room than I think, but I do not want to stress about it as I learn the handling characteristics.

Also planning to take an Experience Rider Course next week. Thinking of taking on Harley. Should make the slow speed handling drills a bit more challenging. But challenging is good when learning.

I could see myself getting to the point that I embrace that part of the experience. But I would like to experience what the designers and engineers created first. Then see if modifying can improve the experience for me.

But I am not going to raise it if it is not an easy adjustment.

Have to admit though, it is pretty sweet just the way it sits.

Increasing preload on rear shocks should raise it.
Check with PO to see if he put in shortened forks.
