I have a 1997 Ultra classic, fuel injected, never really had a major problem until now. About 80% of the time it will start right up after one crank, the rest of the time it will crank over and over and over but never start. When it doesn't start it could start as soon as 10 minutes later, sometimes not for hours. When it won't start if I remove the plugs they are dry, and the plugs were changed. The fuel pump is working fine, the fuel filter was changed... Not sure what would cause it to just randomly not start... Any help would he appreciated.
I have not checked spark, when it wouldn't start and I noticed the plugs were dry I assumed it wasn't getting gas. That's what led to me checking the fuel pump and changing the fuel filter.
I have cycled it on and off a few times when it doesn't start, but I would try to start it everytime as well. I haven't tried cycling a few times then trying to start it. That is something I will have to try the next time it decides to not start.
If you think it's a fuel issue you can always open the throttle plate and give it a little shot of fuel then crank it over and see what happens.... At least you can rule on fuel....
