As for the lifters either HD B lifters or S&S for me.
Others say Johnson Hylift are just as good and a lot cheaper and they might be right but I'll stick with the above.

As for the pump why replace it???
Just rebuild what you have is my suggestion.

It is possible that the PO had a failure and replaced something. We know someone has been in there because of the adjustable pushrods. Anyway, the debris could have been left over from that event. If there is nothing else in the oil filter, I think I would fix what you have (new lifters and new or repaired oil pump) and hope for the best. I think HD still carries the pump, and S&S makes a replacement.

My local (HD) dealer still had access to pumps 2 years ago, as well as repair parts...new pump was about $400.00 though if I remember right.

I still say just rebuild the oil pump.
That's what I did with the basket case I got from Cowboy51 a while back and it has been fine since.

The oil pump is scored up from the piece of metal getting between the gears and the case.
Thinking of going with S & S pump and lifters. Also plan on changing the inner cam bearing even though it seems in good shape.

I replace mine every time I'm in that far as it's just cheap insurance.

If the inner cam bearing is the "good" one, I'd leave it, but I understand the "replace it while you're in there," especially if you have the tool from the last time. They are cheap. I dunno about Ultima parts for critical stuff like an oil pump. I stick with OEM or S&S for the most part, as I have said before.

I bought an Evo oil pump for my shovelhead back in '86. It was about two hundred at that time. There's that inflation we don't have. But, with new economic theory, it's really Deflation because you can substitute a cheap Korean made oil pump for a Genuine HD pump and it's 20 bucks cheaper than 1986. See? 10% deflation over 20 years. Now eat your hamburger and be happy.

Got all the parts ordered went with S & S polished standard oil pump and Johnson lifters. Also ordered some chrome Tappet Blocks and replacment inner cam bearing.

With all the above and a gasket set, a couple of lifter block guide pins and cam inner bearing tool the total was $569. which I think is not bad when you consider $97. of that is for tools.
