and today I got rear ended. A lady rear ended me this morning on I90 in rush hour stop and go traffic. 40 years riding and it my first hit. Needs a rear fender, tail light assembly, fender support brackets saddle bag support brackets and who know what else. (tire) I had to drive it to get off the interstate and the Fender buckled inward near the side of the top and was rubbing and cutting the tire. ( I didn't realize it until i started to smell burning rubber) The bike was pristine. she knocked me forward probaly 10 to 15 feet or so. I'm glad i had a drivers backrest because it keep me in the drivers seat. I believe with out that i would have ended up in the passenger seat and would have went down for sure.
The Lady was very shaken and i had to calm her down, Kind weird getting hit from behind It s like what the F__K is happening!
Yea I am fine, Usually I'm very cautious at stop lights and stop signs and always stay left in my lane watching my mirrors, but today I let my guard down as she was behind me for quite awhile in the stop and go traffic and thought she knows there a bike in front of her. And then when you least expect it, it happens
Hey Dave, so sorry to hear man....but am glad your ok. Did you get checked by a doctor? That jolt with the backrest can really do a number on your back. Probably not gonna feel it till tomorrow. Be careful man... The bike can always be fixed and i understand the unmolested look she had. Real sorry man... I know what I-90 can be like just as bad as 787. Unfortunately people don't seem to pay attention to what they're supposed to anymore. Hope all is well.....
Sorry to hear about the damage but on the end it is still a big chunk of iron...replaceable, you however are not. Glad you are ok and bike looks fixable.
Glad you're ok. You can't catch everything. The best rider in the world is still subject to getting clipped. If you got 40 years under your belt without it happening before, that tells me you've been pretty dang good at keeping yourself alive. If history is any indication your next one's due in another 40 years. Likely by that time you'll be back safe to the barn and won't need to worry about it too much. Just for the hell of it though...keep an eye out in the meantime, anyway...

Yeah, glad you're OK. You were lucky. I was busted up more when a f'ing kid in a jeep rear ended my Elise, totaling it. My thumb still hurts and it's a good thing I still have hair to cover the large scar. I would be a mean looking skinhead.
