2. Find yourself a complete set of bags, otherwise you could be chasing parts for ever more, or have to buy new. My later bags are ex-Police and didn't look as if they had ever been on a bike. All I had to buy were the rubber mounting grommets and mounting cushions.

IMHO, putting a top case on your bike will ruin the look you are going after.

I agree with this. I am hoping that I will be able to have a removable top case. Only put it on when I need it. Hoping side bags will provide sufficient capacity most of the time.

A tourpak is held on with 4 bolts. Can't get much more qd, takes no time at all, to fit or remove!

Cool - That sounds perfect. Thanks

So, I want a police issue road king tourpak? Is this available new? or do I need to search for a used set? I would rather have a used set if I can find one.

Any suggestions for looking?

Wink

I recently bought a near new tourpak for my old Glide (from a RK owner, who sold his bike without the TP) on UK Ebay, also my Police bags on US Ebay. One is red, the others are green, my bike is blue! So factor in repainting. The Police bags are normally cheaper, but I don't know if there is a Police-spec TP.

When fitting Police bags with a normal TP it has to be raised, to give clearance for opening the bag lids. They have different hinges than the civilian versions, which with no TP is not a problem.

I should have added that I also have a qd twist-lock electrical connector in the floor of my TP, to disconnect the electrics in it.

No such thing. Police bikes have radio boxes where the tour pak would be.

It's been my experience searching for a used TourPak, that they are way over priced, been in wrecks, or in desperate need of paint. Same with OEM hard bags. Do the cost comparison between buying an aftermarket clone of the OEM bag/pak versus used MoCo parts.

I've been eyeing this for my 93: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vivid-Black-...xUxSNq&vxp=mtr

Saddle bags: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Tourin...lRtmIU&vxp=mtr

BTW, the hinge kit for a hard bag is over $100 a side from a dealer (just the hinge, no chrome cover). I just replaced one on my 93 FLHS.

Is there a tourpack that is made for single seat bikes? That do not have the passenger backrest?

Although, I am thinking maybe just go with side bags for now. Hopefully that will be enough for day to day riding and I can throw a bag on the back for the occaisional road trip.
