Default Figured Out My Pingel Fuel Valve.....

In the last couple of years I ran out of gas at least twice. On one occasion when I put my Pingel to reserve I didn't even get a mile further down the road, tanks were dry not even fuel enough for reserve. I was able to grab a gas can to put a gallon in it and continue to the gas station to fill it up... At the station I had put another 3.6 gallons in it so I guess the Moco is correct at 4.7 gl.......

So with winter here and the motor out of the bike now is a good time to clean all the crap out of the tanks and check out the Pingel. I took it off to check the screen and it all looked real good. Actually I was surprised to see just how clean it was. Everything seemed good with it till I put the lever exactly to the on position and looked inside the port at the actual valve.. When I lined the lever up perfectly with the word ON you could see that the port for regular fuel was not 100% open and that part of the port for the reserve was actually visible. So with the lever in the ON position it was actually partially on reserve as well allowing the fuel to run till the tanks were empty.

Now, I could still move the lever further past the ON indicator and at the point (when the lever hits the stop) I can look inside and see that the valve is now fully ON or the port is fully open with no signs of the Reserve port. I never would have thought the indicator itself is not in the proper position. Don't think I'll send it in but at least I now know where the actual "Full ON" is. Lesson learned I guess. On thing is for sure, it'll never happen again.

One other I noticed was that when I really get on it hard carrying several gears to 6K rpm the vibration from the motor actually moves the lever on my Pingel to off. First time it happened I pulled over to the side of the road cause I didn't find the problem of stalling to quickly. It happens every time I get on it. I don't pull over any more cause I know what's going on with it. Now I know my crank is no good and is currently getting replaced but should this still happen? Should it move to off at high rpms?

Hope this helps others.....

I always open mine to the full open stop as there is no detents, It never moves from there but i also dont have a bone shaker motor. Reserve is push it forward some but thats guess as there is no detents.

You would think for $100 Pingel would have clicks to.

Bone Shaker: That's a compliment from me meaning lots of power. I'm postive Scott will smooth you right out.

Sorry to hear you've been having trouble with yours.
I haven't had a lick of trouble with mine in the last 8 years.
