Just read the S&S instructions, says on some bikes the frame may be in the way and you may have to pull the engine to remove CR.
You have got to be kidding me ............

Yea the release could go bad, still less PIA than pushing manuals all the time.

Harley twin cam releases are in the middle of the head, you have to dig into the rocker boxes for those.

I replaced one release on the front head at 25k, didn't remove the rocker box top, S&S provided the release, I had to buy the $80 two piece socket.

If yours goes out 20k down the road, I could lend you the socket.

If the release fails and stays open, it won't strand you, it still has 150+ compression psi.

I wouldn't sweat it. just dump the big motor in it, smile, and worry about replacing rear tires.

Thanks Schex, I don't mind too much about pulling the tank but would hate to bust dn rocker boxes and gaskets.

Here is the plan, pull the heads, plug the center comp release hole and put manuals by the spark plugs where they go. while you have the heads off, bump the compression into giddy up, port clean up and reinstall heads. Possible future electric failure is handled.

Anything over 10:1, imo should have them. I'm a little old school so the mechanicals would be fine with me. Either on the plug side or between the tubes...

Sometimes performance comes with sacrifices....
