Default S&S E or G?

My motor is just about to go back into the bike. I will be picking it up this weekend. It's just a tic over 96". I went with another set of heads for this build and am wondering which carb would be more suitable. The E or the G. And for all you CV and MIK guys out there, I won't even consider another manufacturer.

I didn't build the motor for high RPM although it is very capable of reaching very high numbers. The new heads flow right at 280 CFM.

I was told by S&S that the stock E will support up to 285 CFM. I opened my E carb 1 mm over stock bore so it might even flow more but I never did a flow test on it.

The question is if I went with a G carb would I lose bottom end torque? I'm really kinda building this motor too have a very good bottom end and mid-range. Should I just try my modified E carb and tune it with that or should I risk all and just go with the G.? Thanx all.....

I would go with what S&S said. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Did you rework a set of heads or are they branded?

I have a G on my S&S 107" engine, however the later spec 111" comes with an E. Does that help?! My G pulls like a freight train from just above idle, so torque is not an issue however I do suspect a G is a bit big for your engine.

Stick with the E. The 111 comes with an E.

98 did I miss something. I thought you had you're engine built last year by Hillside or was that a few years back now?

Yea that was 2 years now. Ran into crank problems... So back to the drawing board.

I'd stick with the E and add a thunderjet kit.

I think you answered your own question on your goal of low rpm power and not so much high rpm's. The E will give you quicker moving air and promote the crisp lower rpm power but too quick of air moving through the carb can cause bad street manors because the air speed can throw the carb circuits for a loop.

Believe you are running a T jet in the E? If so it should handle the engine, for a primitive set up the T jet works well in the S&S. Personally I would work on getting that R1 off the member on here in case you have some problems or decide to go with a bigger cam moving the power to the upper side, the R1 has a T jet hole and external air bleed already, back up plans are good with performance
