To those that say the evos are "outdated, small, old"
I'm off today with the wife working and nothing to do. Of course I take the softail for a ride as it's a nice morning here in western pa. I had the roads mostly to myself, I'm assuming most people had to work (suckers).
As I started pointing back home I had some goon in my ***. And I mean right up on me, and I'm certainly not going slow (65 in a 55). I go through a few small towns with the speed down to 35, and me not wanting to get a ticket comply. For said asshat just won't get off me.
Long story short I get to an area I know pretty well with low traffic and I twist the wick and open the old girl up. Sometimes I forget just how much power this monster has! Punched her up to 115 and she had more although I did not. It's not often I get that wild hair and go that fast, I guess I'm just getting old.
It sure is nice to know that my "old" harley will more than keep up with the newer bikes. Of course the ultra could be considered slow, she tops out at about 95 downhill. But Jenevive, she is something special! She sure was running good today, and I had a really nice ride. I hope some of you boys did the same.
I have always said the evo is the best engine harley ever made. That should spark some debate..I rode to the dealer today for an inspection but they were closed ,I guess for an extended fourth holiday. At least i was out riding, took the long way home.any excuse to ride.Ya gotta love jokers like that but at least you got away from him
I think it is the owners being called old and slow, cube per cube a Evo can hold it's own. A good running 80" is a handful for a bigger cubed Twinkie, my 89" never had many challengers with bigger cube newer bikes.
I'm one of the suckers who had to work today, but if the weather's decent tomorrow, I'll be on the ol' Heritage, going to a local Blues and Brews festival for a few hours to enjoy some delicious craft beers and listen to a few (hopefully) good blues bands.
Then I'm off on a 100-mile round trip ride to my sister-in-law's for dinner and fireworks.
Yeah, it is not to often I get a day to myself. Of course there is always plenty for me to do on the farm, but I decided to capitalize and go for a ride today. Wasn't long, only about 100mi, but it sure was nice. Tomorrow, we will ride together, hopefully I can talk her into taking the softail. She likes the ultra for obvious reasons.Damn these white people problems, having to decide which classic harley to ride.
My wife and I did a real nice 120 mile ride around Central NY. Mostly back roads and county roads. Stopped at the Crazy Clam in Sylvan Beach for some lunch and couldn't believe $12.90 for a dozen steamed clams.. Needless to say, back on the bike we went to an old favorite, The Solsville Hotel and Frogs legs and clams.... What a great day......

Hmmm. I'll have to try that place. Thanks for the tip.
