Default Advice please

Recently picked up a 95 FLHT. Got the bike running really well, but man.......I feel like I'm sitting in a church pew or something! Legs are stuck at 90 degrees. I've looked at seat options and doesn't seem to be many for that year unless of course, you're willing to spend $3-400. Any suggestions on how I can either move back, or get the foot controls forward, without spending a helluva-lot of money to do it?
thanks

95-96 are there own creatures, 97 goes to 2005 possibly 2007. It is possible to do some work on the 97 up seats, have been a few members on here modify the front tang to make it fit. Bad deal is most seats used are running $300. Might be able to find a stock take off for $150

Seat purchasing can bad deals because one persons perfect seat can suck for someone else, Ebay has been the best place to find 95-96 seats but they won't be free

Here's what I did for my '96:
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-c...or-a-96-a.html
I picked up the Corbin at a local Indy shop for $80.00. Check out the indies in your are as they may have some seats taking up dust some where. Also swap meets and local Craigslist.

looks like you went from a seat with a tongue, to
another seat with a tongue, but had to modify it, correct? Had trouble understanding the post. Was the Corbin a touring model
seat?

I found a beat up seat on Ebay for $35. It'll eventually need a seat cover ($100). For now, it'll do.

Unfortunately, the seat doesn't have the correct tangs for mounting and I'll be doing the same thing that Crashone did. I"ll also be fabricating a rear tang for the seat too. The current seat has a sideways metal tang that looks like it would receive the tang from the tank (same as in Crashone's photo). Although, it doesn't fit, hence the minor fab work. My father-in-law had some luck at finding seats at pawn shops (one of his favorite places to go). Before I do all this work, I'm going to check the local m/c salvage yard.

Yep you'll see. Gotta have those bends to get the tongue under the tongue. Trial and error and then some. But it works.

My 96 RK came with the original solo seat, p-pad combo.
The solo didn't work well for me. I picked up this 97- and up seat for a song and modded the tongue to fit my 96.

I cut the tongue back about 1", 1-1/4", then put a 8" crescent wench straight off the end of the tongue and bent the tongue back down towards the seat pan till the wrench touched the pan. Careful. Pan is plastic and pretty tough but it can crack. A file is great to knock the sharp edges off the cut seat tongue. Put the seat on the bike, wedging the modified tongue under the steel seat locating flap on the frame right behind the tank. The original seat fitted over this steel flap.

Don't cut the tongue too short, you want it long enough to fit under the steel flap tightly so that when you put in the rear fender seat bolt you're pushing the seat forward some to put that bolt in. This will hold the seat securely. Worked great. Fits great. Hope it rides great too.
