Thanks guys. Took it for a couple hour putt. Seat rides as good as it looks. Snug fitting to the bike, no shifting or any movement at all on the frame.
Much better feeling to me than the factory solo.
I've just bought a 96 FLH Ultra Classic. The seat's not bad (I rode the bike 140 miles home including 45 mins stuck in a queue for the Dartford Crossing) but it isn't as good as the "white sofa" on my old Shovelhead FLH. On the other hand, the bike isn't as low as a Shovelhead, so I don't want the seat significantly higher (I'm big-built but not tall).
I'm open to suggestions on this. I'd prefer a longer seat without the ridge at the back. I have seen a police seat on ebay with no mountings, but it looks to me that my most viable option is another plastic base seat... probably best to wait for a Mustang vintage solo or similar to appear on ebay?
