New to the site and looking for some advice... I am looking to buy a 2010 Road King and I wanted to know how you taller guys are doing with them.
I'm 6'5" and its a little tight on the fit... Guy at the dealership was talking about being able to add a tall seat.. What other options would I have or what are you guys doing for a little extra room...
If you like the factory seat, you could ship it off to Mean City Cycles and have them move it back an inch or two. Its cheaper than a new $350 seat.
Another option for tall riders is to move the footboards forward. Kuryakyn offers a kit for under $100 that moves the footboards 1" forward and 1" outward. At 6ft, with a 34" inseam, I was able to get away without moving them forward. So I just went with the even cheaper Harley Goodies footboard extensions that move them out 1".
It's really so much a matter of personal comfort- as you know.
the Harley dealer is supposed to have a "FIT SHOP" so that you can determine seats, pegs, bars etc.
Why aren't they helping you with this-?
I'm 6'2" so a little easier to fit.
When touring ( 10+ hour days, day after day) I like like to sit up on top- so I use the stock seat, in a forward position--bad back so I like to put part of my weight on my legs- that also means I have to keep my feet in, rather than out to the sides.
when around town ( less than 4 hour days) I use a streetglide seat, which puts me back and down about 1.5"
I also have a brawler solo seat which puts me about 2.5" back and about on the frame.
then depending on eye height, I swap windscreens to match ( I have an Electraglide, so swaps are quick and easy).
If you end up with this bike, seats seem to be about the most traded item on the classified forum here at hdforums, and hello and welcome by the way.

Hmmm... They sure didn't seem to have or offer this. My sales rep was the one who pointed it out to me but said they didn't have any on site. I might have to shop around a little more and see what I can find. Thanks for the heads up on this.
I bought a TallBoy seat for my 07 FLHT STD. It did what it was supposed to do. Moved me back & up. BUT it was way to firm. I but 100 miles on it & OFF it came. I don't know why they didn't use the same padding. Just wanted to let you know about that.
