You engine will breathe better running a half quart low on engine oil...I would bet it was right up to max oil level...puking into your air breather, that's what they do until people figure it out...but your on your way already so just reroute it to the air like advised.

Excellent replies gents, thanks all for the inputs and quick responses. I will do this modification (including reducing some engine oil and probably a Uni UP122 filter) and at least this will reduce some of the leaks I'm getting! Oh and a damn OEM Manual!

Factory manual is definitely worth the money. My 92 had it breathing into carb also. I have a screaming eagle breather between heads to a filter. Just make sure you still have your bottom breather by the oil pump.

OK; just to finish this thread, heres a couple of photos of what i did using marine grade heat proof tubing. It's not pretty but i think it definitely works - any images anyone else has on on this to make it more subtle would be good. Now onto what to do with my crankcase seal leak or just bitew the bullet and tear the engine down...yikes!

Default hose

no need to go back that far, drop it straight down between the trans and oil pump.if you are worried about oil on the back tire install a small filter.
it will never be noticed.

Almost identical to the way I ran mine, I just ran on side of swingarm instead of and and zip tied.

Ok thanks guys, I'll adapt as I go and add a filter I think...and yup I'll keep an eye on the oil and take it down a bit.

No need for such a heavy duty hose either. Your first pick of your reroute has the hose dumping right next to your rear brake disk....not a good idea. Just run a simple oil resistant hose straight down like others suggested. Maybe an inch below the engine and done. YD
