Default Engine case bolt

1992 FXR 80" Evo. While trying to find my vibration problem I found the rear bottom case bolt nuts loose on each side. Tried to tighten and they are stripped. I assume this a thru bolt. Can I just remove the nuts & pull the bolt out, slide a new one in and torque nuts?
