I will be needing a rear tire very soon and my front is fine.
It looks like the PO got them done at the moco since these say Harley Davidson on them. What is a good long lasting tire and what kind of pricing is fair for an indi to charge?
I'm going to have them do a service and change the 3 holes on the bike too since I really don't know what the PO had done in the past.
Thanks

In my area indies charge from $25 - $55 (wheels off the bike).
If you're planning on changing the 3 holes since you don't know what has been done in the past I recommend changing the brake fluid and the fork fluid while you are at it.
The consensus around here for touring bikes seems to be a tie between Michelin Commanders and Dunlop American Elite. I run the Commanders and am totally satisfied but from the reviews I have read would not hesitate to run the Dunlops either. I do my own install so can't help you there but I would also recomend Ride On balancer\sealant http://www.ride-on.com/
Dunlop is the only American tire company and the Elites are great tires IMO.
No they're not. Cooper Tires are American as well - and own Avon Tyres. Made in Britain by a US firm for our Harleys = best combination of the lot! Been using them on my Harleys since the '70s.
