Thanks Tom, from my understanding it has had multiple release failures, I will pass this info on because they where talking something stupid priced in changing gears and shafts.

Would you post in detail of how to change over to the more modern release bearing system if that is the best way to repair a multiple release failure, a local Indy put the fork in it not to long ago.

I've gone through two or three of them. I keep a spare in my tourpack, but the last one I put in was a genuine HD one and I readjusted the clutch to factory specs and haven't had a problem since. Knock on wood.

Only difference was the mainshaft , 84 still had the tapered end for the clutch hub they hadn't gone to the spline shaft yet and as Tom said the throw out bearing set up.

they also wear the hole in the cover and the slop makes neutral impossible as the shaft is walking around

the conversion is a 3 part change - the cable becomes an evo flt - the trans door and its outer cover with the ball ramp - it all can be done with the trans in place if you have the tools - the two small door bearings are the issue - if you don't have the pullers then the inner - outer and trans has to be emptied - even with the tools we always emptied the trans - the spring was always a thing that would decide to brake a week after we did the conversion
