Default 96+ outer fairing with 95 inner?

I have an inner fairing for my 95 FLHTP and was wondering if the 96+ would fit on that inner or if I have to get the older version?

The shape is similar but the early models wrap under the headlight and fastens on the sides of the bottom tree. Also has 5 bolts for the windshield. '96 has 3 bolts and fastens differently. It would be an awful lot of work trying to pair them together.

It's just similar to make you think it will work but I dont think it will. My buddy has a 95 and I have a 96 (both Electra GLides) we have compared differences side by side...They are close but not the same. I even want to say the 96 fairing is just a touch wider than the 95 also.
