In 1994 they went to what is known as "high contact gears" which are quieter. The scissor style spring was added to the shift pawl in 2000, much more durable spring.

As mentioned earlier the larger door bearings were also done in 2000.

Shift drums changed in 98 to allow for a normally closed neutral switch.

In 2000 the shift drum changed again to allow for the normally open neutral switch.

Nothing else really changed until Harley went to their 6 speed in the 2006 dyna's.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
Not all '94 models have "high contact ratio" gears. US, Canadian, Japanese and Swiss models had conventional gears. All other export models had "high contact ratio" gears. My source: 1994 H-D Service manual.

You are right, they are expensive, but piece of mind is nice.

Oh and the fact that you can find me here and ask me any questions you may have should be worth a couple bucks.
Thanks Mark, I appreciate the fact that the Baker is great product, without a doubt. It's more of a financial decision at this point. sure, I could just paypal the cost but then it's a debt.

Hey Mark, I do have a question: if I were to obtain a clutch hub from a 1998 to 2000 along with the mounting nut and whatever else goes with it, could I use a Baker DD kit #DD411S 1103_0004? Reason I ask is there's one for sale on ebay from an aftermarket dealer for the seemingly low price of $1778, shipped. From the pics in the ad this kit comes with not only the gear set, but oil, primary chain, new motor sprocket and it's NIB with all the paperwork including warranty reg. Also, would Baker honor the warranty? This represents a savings over the quotes from Baker of almost $800. Can't blame a working stiff for trying to save some money.

Yea it will work, as long as there is a copy of the original receipt with it we will honor the warranty.
