Default 1990 FXR led directional issues

so I replaced my directionals with led ones and now the fronts don’t work and the rear ones come on and do not flash. If I disconnect the rears the fronts stay lite up and go out when I hit the turn signal button for that side I replaced the flasher just because of the age, and nothing changes. Electrical is not my strong point so any ideas would be great

Try throwing the standard bulbs back in see if it works, if it does your led bulbs are the problem.

Your FXR has a conventional blinker module inside the headlight can. The LED bulbs don't draw enough to activate it.

You can either add resistors to increase the draw, wire in an aftermarket module, or go back to conventional bulbs.

Here's what you need if you want to go LED.

Thumbs up

I have a similar module to the one above, on my Glide. Works fine and sorts out the problem.

Now you can get adjustable flashers made for LEDs...you can adjust the flash rate regardless of amp draw..no need for resisters or modules

How would you use that if you have a newer style turn signal module without flasher?

You wouldn't...but my answer was for a 1990 FXR that I believe does have one.
