How do I Delete my ignition switch
never use the key so I thought I might **** off the switch and simply run two toggles. One for the ignitionand one for the lights.
anyone done those?
if not, any idea which wires I need to run to the two toggle switches?
thanks
Hid the toggle switch under the seat on my Panhead and carried a big chain and padlock.

Fix the real problem, don`t hack up the electrical system, you don`t have even the basic understanding of a DC circuit.

There are plenty of bikes with far more power than yours with OEM ignition switches.
I just noticed this is your very first and only post.
thanks for the advice so far.
this is the third switch I have used. All new and all genuine HD.
actually the fourth.... I used an aftermarket and that was worse!
to the reply that I only need to extend the wires to the switch, I get that but I understand from the wiring diagrams that alights and other things are on different circuits. Given that there are a number of poles on the existing switch and two jumpers, which wires do I connect to which switch?
thanks

As you are looking at the switch number the posts 1-6 in a clockwise direction
Post 1 is power for the switch
Post 2 is lights
Post 3 is jumped power from post 1
Post 4 is for EFI bikes so not used on mine
Post 5 is for accessory
Post 6 is for ignition
All this is in the wiring diagram in the back of the manual so if you don't have one I suggest you get one.
I'd wire power to one side of the toggle and then wire the appropriate (ignition, lights, or acc) to the other side of whichever toggle you are using.
I hope this helps but I still think you are fixing the symptom and not the problem as a great many here run highly modified bikes with no problem with the ignition switch.
Make sure all your motor mount bolts are tight as well as all your electrical connections is what I would do first.
Good luck and I hope this helped.
