Tried this over in the general section with no luck so thought I would try it here.
I have a 1996 Heritage and have been given a set of wheels and tires from a 2013 Heritage, both stock 16" wheels and was wondering if there was any difference between the rear wheels? Do they have the same size bearings? Will the brake rotor and belt pulley bolt up the same? Or are there differences in the 2 wheels that make swapping them a no go?
Thanks in advance for any knowledge that you guys can share.
The bearings are different but they make 30$ sleeve kits for those but the pully is different I don't know if you can bolt up your original pully to the new rim. Brake rotors are also different size you would need newer Softail lower legs... Unless you can mock something up.
There are several differences. Your stock wheels have tapered roller bearings, whereas the later wheels have ball races. The later wheels have larger ID holes in the rotor centres, so your rotors will not swap over. The later wheels use larger OD brake rotors, so they won't work with your brake calipers. The rear pulleys won't swap over either. There are probably work-around solutions, but they will require effort, so not a simple swap or bolt-in.
