Maybe not a big deal but doing a full oil change could be the difference between rebuilding an engine at 100k and rebuilding an engine at 125k, just for a few extra minutes doing things right.
When you change the oil in your car, do you go ahead and put 1 quart of the old oil back into the engine to save oil?
A motorcycle engine is no different, in fact much more critical due to higher temps and a wet clutch.

As for higher temps my bike runs cooler than my '05 chevy...
BTW every automatic car/truck out there has a wet clutch.

You have never split a set of Evo or Shovelhead cases and seen how much oil is inside, have you?
I`m telling you from practical experience, not watching you tube, that this process is unnecessary and a waste.

As I said before by all means, when you next change your cars oil, dump a quart of the old oil back in the sump and save a bit of money since it makes no difference.
I personally would not pour a fresh beer in a glass with old, flat beer in the bottom though.
With regards to the oil filter being in a bad location, best you can do if you dont have one of those fancy funnel things is shape and lay a big piece of tin foil underneath it, should catch the worst of it then use a rag to clean the rest.

I purge on my EVO, mainly because it's easy, takes all of 1 minute extra time and no mess with the filter under the bike, so why not.
Now with the filter under the bike, the lines to and from the 10 row oil filter, I get about 3/4 a quart of dirty oil out, very little mixing, it changes color abruptly,
also makes me feel warm and fuzzy, and my beer taste better.
Now, do I do it on my other two bikes, hell no, I get pissed at the mess it makes just changing the oil filter with it's dumbass location, not as much oil left in the system as the EVO, and they're not on the return side.

I live in the UK where autos are a minority. Also our cars tend not to big engined chevys, more smaller 4cyl engines, none of which are air cooled like a HD.The wet clutch itself has little to do with oil break down but it is after all one extra fast moving part in which clutch material will come off and mix with the oil thus contaminating it more than a car.

Unless you are running a 30+year old bike that is.
Just out of curiosity you do realize that Harleys use a different oil for motor, tranny, and primary right?

Yeah but in piglets the tranny and primary share a fluid so even with piglets you can't get clutch material in engine oil unless a seal fails.
