So I was just starting a simple oil change and noticed a smidgeon of oil here and there on my primary. Upon closer inspection, I discovered the top 1/3 or so of the front fins on the motor saturated. Of course it sprayed along down the bike and now I have a nice little mess on my hands. But more importantly, I'm concerned about the repair needed .I'm pretty confident you guys are gonna be able to tell me what I might be facing here. Oh, my bike is a 95 Heritage, just about to turn 40k miles.
Degrease tthe area really good, then run it and see where the leak is originating.
Either the head gasket or rocker box Id guess
You can also spray the suspect area with a powder to better locate it.
Don't ride it as the wind will blow the oil all kinds of places and you will be in the same boat you are now.
It's not oil filter or stator plug for sure. But as far as either of the gaskets are concerned, how big of a job is each and cost......from an Indy? Definitely beyond my mechanical abilities.

Before you just start buying stuff find the leak.
FWIW it could also be a fork leak and the wind blowing the fluid back to the jugs.
Ok, thanks guys. TH,....I''m gonna inspect the forks like you said. What's a good powder to use? I always thought base gaskets would be my first issue, but they are original and barely any weeping. At 40k miles, are head or rocker gaskets common? My one bud told me not to stress, HD will still take it in on trade for a new one....they just don't understand.
