Just changed my oil and filter in the 91 heritage. No way it took the three quarts the manual called for. Drained hot. Anyone else seeing this?
Iron I think the manual calling for 3 quarts includes what's in the crankcase.
Like I said I've never used more than 2.5 quarts in the tank but I think there's about 1/2 a quart left in the crankcase that you can't change unless you run a scavenger (or something similar) to get that extra oil.
Is it necessary to go after that 1/2 quart??? NO
Is it gonna hurt anything if you don't??? NO
Will it give you a warm fuzzy feeling to change it??? Depends on the person changing the oil.
But... If it really was "Drained Hot" [Which does Not mean "warmed up"] there should be a couple ounces Max in the engine.. Assuming no Add on crap in the return Line, of course.

When I get a wild hair and use my scavenger to the the oil out of the motor I get about 1/2 quart (measured) before the oil starts running clear.
Damn that sounds good and I don't even know what it is!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't been allowed near it yet! I'm going to guess that it's a sponge cake, flavoured with Jamaican ginger and has a sticky topping. How does that sound? More news as it breaks.....
