Default Front Motor Mounts

I need to replace the front motor mount on my 1990 FLHS. There are options from $20.00 to $250. I'm just looking for a solid mount that will hold up without spending unnecessary money. Read that Drag Specialties weren't that good. Any experience with the V-Twin Manufacturing mounts? The stock replacement from the Harley shop is $80 and tax. I'll go that route if it's the best mid cost replacement. I'm not interested in a whole replacement kit, just the mount and would like the best "bang for the buck."

Thanks.

Frank

Tried searching this but nothing came up.

Wouldn't put too much stock in what you read. Everything out there has someone who doesn't like it, and they are the most likely to post their opinions.

FWIW, I put a generic J&P mount on my '90 a couple of years ago. It was pretty stiff at first, but settled in. For $20 or so, it's fine.

I've been curious to try one of those big bux (Glide Pro, etc) systems. If mine ever wears out, maybe I'll give it a shot.

I can highly recommend the Glide Pro system.
I installed the front and rear mount on my 94flhtcu, easy I person job as long as you have a jack to lift the bike.
I replaced the front 1st, I noticed a big improvement straight away, around 45miles later I did the rear...this is when I felt a great improvement in vibration and handling.
No more bagger wobble.

Dave.

I have also installed the Glide Pro engine mount and swingarm kit on my 88 FLHS with similar results : works as advertised, less vibration and greatly improved stability.

The GP front mount is pretty good..Rear mounts not so much.. Drag rears are good, I use them but use Stock HDs on the front as the drags are a little stiff and the motor I tried it on was 131 ci.

Buell part number
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...l0501-2-a.html
Copied from the above post: I've also bought the Buell mnt pn. L0501.2, and interstingly enough the part in the bag was the 16207-B.
John @ MIA Cycles was a outstanding member in the Evo section and always spoke highly of the Buell mount on a Harley.

White Bike still has the original 16207-79b that Harley tried to improve with 2 or 3 updated mounts and never improved the old mount. White Bike's 79b has with stood time, big engines and still smooth as silk with no vibrations.

Now was chasing a vibration in the Twinkie and tried the fancy Glide Pro, got to admit the material and design is good but never helped with the vibration. Think a left over 79b on Ebay or Buell mount would be a better purchase than a $125 Glide Pro based on the 79b's duty life on the Evo and costs.
