Default Downshifting issues

Sometimes when I go to downshift it will go to neutral and instead of 3rd or 2nd. Any ideas?

False neutral.
Unless it is giving you other troubles don't worry about it.

You just have to shift with convection!
Make sure you rev the engine to match road speed of the lower gear.

Make sure the splines on your shifter are tight and did not slip. If shifter is hitting footboard it will stop the shift.

Agree, you want to be deliberate when you shift. If you make lazy shifts you'll get more false neutrals.
