Default swingarm overhaul

Hey guys, i have started a post similar to this earlier, but i dint know how to remove or delete it, and it wasn't very descriptive in my questions, so sorry.. .... SO ...

i am going to overhaul my 1996 wide glide swing arm and i have a few questions..

1. it seems that there are only bearings on one side of the swing arm? I have included a picture of the individual parts - the bearings are located on the same side as the rear brakes... On the primary side of the swing arm however there is only a spacer / bush,.. Just checking this is correct?

2. i cant find somewhere to get the parts in the U.K? i haven't tried my Harley dealer yet because i don't like them, but i will as a last resort. I can find the Timken bearings on eBay with the cups, but not the dust covers with o-rings and the bearing spacer and the big lock ring?

3. after some reading it appears to replace all of this i need to take a hacksaw to the big lock ring? Anyone done this lol, once i have done this do i need to press the cone cups out?

Thanks guys

Daz

ahh that’s great thanks. Hopefully postage to the uk won’t be crazy.

Now just need to get to figure out how to remove the lock ring from the bearing side and the bush from the primary side of the swingarm lol. I guess the bush will just press out?

While you're at it check the square tubing at the axle slot for cracks or a sign that it's been crushed\misshapen\cracked. If it is you might want to attend to that before the bushings.

He's talking about the two rectangular sections that extend back from the pivot. The ones on either side of the wheel to which the axle and shocks connect. There is a tendency for those to crack.
