Just an update here. I ordered the standard motor products MC-SPA3 cam position sensor without the layover sensor for 38.00 plus shipping and installed last night. bike fired right up kinda ran crappy for a minute then its like everything relearned and it amoothed out and idled at 950 rpm for about 15 mins. I got on the throttle revved it up to about 4000 rpm about 10 times and each time it cleanly fell back to a smooth 950 rpm. Still have to take it for a ride but it appears the 38 dollar sensor works fine on an efi bike with the factory cup. Thanks for everyones help. Ill report back after the test ride this weekend. (Bike is currently 40 miles away)

Does the standard motor products MC-SPA3 cam position sensor mount in the exact position as original?
To be specific, does it mount in exactly the same two screw holes?

Yes it does.. I've been using it for 2 years now. One in my 77 FXE and one in my 98 Fatboy...
Standard makes three different cam position sensors. Depends on the year of the bike and the type of connection (pins)
I have never heard of anyone successfully using the Standard Motors Cam Sensor on an EFI Harley. I'd be interested to hear how it works after you ride it.

Yes the standard sensor works you just use the 2 set holes for mounting not the adjustable holes. And you must use the factory EFI cup. I have a few other issues to iron out after my test ride but im moving in the right direction. It seems to be running lean. Getting a few pops from the intake and while holding the throttle steady it sometimes acts like its running out of fuel like bogging down then coming back. Not 100% sure where to look. I do have to replace the intake seals I noticed you can grab the throttle body and move the entire intake up and down on the mounts (assuming this isn't normal) Anybody know of a fuel management/tuner thatll work on a 96 efi?
