Hello everyone I need some help I have a 97 electraglide that is a carburetor. I went to go ride and got to the stop sign and it died. Got it back home found out I wasn't getting any spark so I went and bought new spark plugs and still nothing. I replaced the coil and still both nothing. It cranks over but that's all it does. Can someone help figure this out I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Welcome to the forums. I also have a 97 Electra glide. The next thing I would check is the ignition pick up, also called a cam position sensor. they are known to go bad. If you take the round cover off of the “cone” you can inspect it to see if has started leaking “brown goo”. That is a tell tale sign it has gone bad. If you haven’t picked up an official Harley-Davidson factory service manual, I suggest picking one up, it will pay for itself.
Just replaced the cam position sensor on my ‘98 ultra last night. Lasted about a year after I noticed the brown goo syndrome. The bike started stalling in this midwest 90 degree weather. It lives about three inches from the front jugs exhaust, and heat is a problem. Plus mine had 100,000 miles on it.
If it is the cam position sensor, you might consider a serviceable used one. New ones can be a couple of hundred bucks or more. I got one that looks brand new from my local indie for $40. It was removed from a bike that he put an aftermarket ignition system on.
Several of us in Evoland run the Ultima which is a 2000I, coils can be a hit and miss is about the only item that surfaced. You will have to wire that module in because it isn't a plug and play but not too hard to do, will need to lift the tank to get to the coil. Some members on here can most likely suggest a plug and play system which is a quicker install but the Ultima is hard to beat for the price.
On wiring you need a 12v positive which is under the right side of the tank, white wire/black tracer (handle bar switch control) should have your original module plugged into it, ground, 3 wires to the coil - positive center and 2 signal grounds on outsides coming from the module, 1 wire for a tach. Pretty simple

Or you can use this hall effect cam position sensor made by Standard Motor Products.. Works perfect, is plug and play into the original Duetch connector (3 wire) and is a fraction of the cost. I use it in my 98 Fatboy and my 77 SuperGlide...
